چکیده

Digitization of documents recently has become an important technology. However, it is difficult for existing scanners to read books at high speed and at high resolution simultaneously. In order to realize a promising new book scanning system, we aimed to scan a book containing many pages by using multiple high-speed cameras to acquire images while continuously flipping through the pages, then integrating the images viewed by different cameras to digitize all of the pages. However, high-accuracy integration with the non-uniform rectification required for such input images is a challenging task because the sheets of the document are deformed and the image resolution is so high that misalignment can easily occur. This paper proposes a new multi-camera-array book scanning system and a method of achieving high-accuracy threedimensional deformation estimation and high-resolution rectification of the distorted document images with a system configuration in which multiple high-speed cameras are arranged with small overlapping captured areas. Experiments using the developed system showed that highaccuracy document images were reconstructed.

The perceptibility curve test applied to CCD and two methods of digitization of dental film-based radiographs

Objectives: Several methods of image acquisition are accessible in dentistry. There is no overall acceptable method for image digitization so all different types of images can be comparable. The objective of this study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of different methods of image digitization. Methods: This accuracy diagnostic test study used perceptibility curve test which first intr...

High-resolution video mosaicing for documents and photos by estimating camera motion

Recently, document and photograph digitization from a paper is very important for digital archiving and personal data transmission through the internet. To realize easy and high quality digitization of documents and photographs, we propose a novel digitization method that uses a movie captured by a hand-held camera. In our method, first, 6-DOF(Degree Of Freedom) position and posture parameters ...

Document Restoration Using 3D Shape: A General Deskewing Algorithm for Arbitrarily Warped Documents

We present a framework for restoring arbitrarily warped and deformed documents to their original planar shape. The impetus for this work is the need for tools and techniques to help digitally preserve and restore fragile manuscripts. Current digitization is performed under the assumption that the documents are flat, with subsequent image-processing and restoration algorithms either relying on t...

A Reconfigurable Real-Time Compressive-Sampling Camera for Biological Applications

Many applications in biology, such as long-term functional imaging of neural and cardiac systems, require continuous high-speed imaging. This is typically not possible, however, using commercially available systems. The frame rate and the recording time of high-speed cameras are limited by the digitization rate and the capacity of on-camera memory. Further restrictions are often imposed by the ...

Accurate Real-Time Multi-Camera Stereo-Matching on the GPU for 3D Reconstruction

Using multi-camera matching techniques for 3d reconstruction there is usually the trade-off between the quality of the computed depth map and the speed of the computations. Whereas high quality matching methods take several seconds to several minutes to compute a depth map for one set of images, real-time methods achieve only low quality results. In this paper we present a multi-camera matching...
